ACSZero- History

ACSZero: A defense-born technology that revolutionizes climate control for military bases.

The European Defence Agency, in collaboration with NATO, called upon European companies to provide solutions for a costly issue: the need for cooling and heating systems for military bases, particularly temporary ones. Our design emerged as the winning solution.

Heating or cooling military bases is an expensive undertaking.

Ensuring troop and operational comfort is paramount in extreme temperature environments.

And how did they do it?

Quite simply, diesel generators produced electrical power that fed conventional air conditioning and hot water systems. In more stable bases, diesel boilers were used.

Imagine the sheer volume of fuel dedicated solely to this purpose. Yes, a great deal. And now imagine the exorbitant cost of transporting fuel to remote areas, conflict zones, or amidst humanitarian disasters.

This exorbitant cost, coupled with the logistical challenge of transporting fuel to conflict zones, was a major headache for armies.

This gave rise to our technology. A scalable, modular, transportable, maintenance-free system capable of operating entirely autonomously (off the grid).

It may seem like magic, but it’s just advanced engineering and technology.

ACSZero: A game-changer in military climate control, eliminating fuel costs and logistical headaches.

How it works?

ACSZero: A solar-powered marvel, embracing the sun’s energy while welcoming other sources.

We harness solar energy through heat pump systems to generate temperature, which is then stored in our e-depot system. This system behaves like a battery, but instead of storing electrical energy, it stores thermal energy, whether hot or cold.

When hot or cold water is required, it passes through our e-depot system, where it is heated or cooled and then delivered to the system. This water can be used for domestic hot water, heating, laundry, or other industrial processes.

ACSZero: Daytime solar power charges our e-depot, harnessing the sun’s bounty for free.

And how it works at night?

The e-depot system is sized based on hot water consumption during nighttime hours, ensuring that the energy accumulated during daylight hours is sufficient to deliver water at the requested temperature even during the night.

ACSZero

This ingenious system, designed by our engineers, stands out for its remarkable capacity to produce domestic hot water (ACS) while consuming close to nothing, if not absolutely zero energy.

This ingenious system is ideally suited for high domestic hot water (DHW) demands, making it perfect for installations such as military bases, healthcare facilities, residences, hotels, sports centers, apartment complexes with centralized water systems, and more. The system’s core components include:

  • At the heart of the system lies a heat pump for domestic hot water (DHW) production, utilizing air-to-water technology and a CO2 compressor to deliver water temperatures ranging from 60°C to 90°C. Remarkably, it can achieve 90°C even in extreme outdoor temperatures as low as -25°C, without relying on any conventional backup energy sources. This translates to significant reductions in operating costs and environmental impact.

  • A sun-powered dance, where solar panels pirouette to the heat pump’s rhythm, ensuring an energy-efficient duet.

  • ACSZero’s PCM heat storage tanks: Energy chameleons, transforming heat into a solid embrace for later use. These materials are recently being used in various fields and appearing in various applications, one of them that is considered interesting is that of accumulating heat to unite or couple production using solar energy with the demand for DHW.

Does it work without solar power?

ACSZero’s Versatility: Powered by a Spectrum of Energy Sources

ACSZero’s adaptability extends to its energy sources, seamlessly adapting to solar energy, wind turbine systems, or conventional power grids. In complex scenarios, ACSZero can integrate a hybrid system of diverse energy sources, encompassing traditional, renewable (photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, etc.), or any other generation system.

ACSZero’s resourcefulness extends to heat energy, capable of reusing heat generated by diesel or gas generators.

Antarctica, with its extreme conditions, presents one of the most challenging environments on Earth. Yet, it is precisely in such harsh settings that ACSZero’s technology can make the most significant positive impact. During the summer months, Antarctica experiences abundant energy surpluses, which ACSZero can harness for storage in geothermal reservoirs or for generating other forms of energy. Conversely, during the harsh winters, ACSZero can optimize traditional systems, minimizing energy losses and ensuring far more efficient operation than current methods.
